design analysis

CHITTARA FOLK ART OF KARNATAKA


 D.... Subject and Theme:-

      1. Everyday activity
      2. food culture
     3. ceromonies
    4. love for nature
    5. spiritual life & connection to God 
    6. represent their music culture
   7. represent there vehicle ( palanquin, cart, bulk cart )
   8. represent daily use materials 

E.... Composition   

  1. Focal Point -- In the center of chittara painting creates a focal point as " use of Design Concept " Emphasize.
  2. Geometric Shape-- The whole painting is the combination of simplest geometric form of their daily uses. 
       Geometric shapes are used supporting Design Concept, as consecration of first focusing visual in any painting or in any visuals.
   3. Symmetry----  Chittara paintings has symmetrical balance. All the motifs are placed in such a way that it creates a visual Balance, the key principle of Design concept. 


  4.. Use of Positive and Negative Space:-  We can easily visualize the positive and negative space, as a part of Gestalt law, Design Concept. Which creates a scene of completeness. 

 F..... Space/ Depth :- 

  1. The paintings are flat Down on the flat surface. There is no use of depth in the composition. 
  2. there is no motifs which are suppose to be overlapped.
  3. There is no use of perspective or Aerial perspective.
  4. There is no sense of distance from the actual surface of the paintings.
